When in comes to wedding planning, one of the most common question is always, “How much does it cost?” As a floral designer, my answer is always, “It depends.” The type of flowers used, the number of arrangements needed, and the overall scale of the wedding all factor into the cost. A talented florist will be able to make your ideas come to life on any budget, but it helps to keep a few things in mind.
Choose flowers that are in season. Some flowers are available year-round. Some are not. If you have your heart set on peonies, choose to have your wedding in late spring. Your florist may be able to find peonies in late summer but you will pay a premium price.

Be open to suggestions. A good floral designer will listen to your ideas and choose flowers that fit both your style and budget. Bringing a vision to a florist, rather than a specific flower preference, will allow you to get the look you want at the right price.

Vary your reception décor. Tall, full arrangements make a statement, but they cost more. Consider placing a few large arrangements throughout your venue, with smaller arrangements on the remaining tables. The impression will still be made, but the balance will keep the price reasonable.
If you have your heart set on large arrangements, just add a few to make a statement. They act as exclamation points.
Greenery and candles on an interesting tray, platter, or something like this rustic log slice add interest for little cost.

Know that flowers cost money. Your florist wants your wedding to be beautiful, but know that you will be paying for the products and your florist’s time and skills. Listen to their ideas and work together to find the best design.
The memory of your wedding flowers will live on in your photos and in the minds of your guests. Choose a designer whose style you appreciate and you trust to provide the quality and service you desire.

Such wonderful advice on such an important aspect of the wedding day! Love that you have the knowledge and can work with any bride & their budget to create their dream wedding!
These are great tips! Flowers can make a HUGE difference in a wedding, so I’m sure it’s helpful for brides to know how to make the most of their budget when they’re working with you!
With buying flowers on a budget, I appreciate the tip to get flowers that are in season to avoid paying a premium price. I would like to surprise my wife with flowers for an upcoming date, but I’m not able to spend a lot of money on expensive flowers. By talking with a florist, I hope to be able to find some flowers in my budget that look nice.
I agree that you need to consider the decor when you choose a florist. It would be good to consider this because it would allow you to pair them. My sister needs a florist, so she’ll have to choose someone who will match the decor.
You have some great tips for buying flowers. I like how you said to bring a vision to a florist, not an exact idea of what flowers to get. It’s my wife’s birthday next week, and I want to get the perfect bouquet for her. I’ll remember to try what you said!
I’ve been wanting to get some good flowers, and I think that being able to get some tips would be good. I’m glad you mentioned being open to suggestions from a floral designer. I’m going to have to try to get a good supplier for flowers!

I agree that you would want to consider if a florist will give you suggestions. Listening to what they have to say would probably help ensure that you get a good arrangement. My brother is looking for a florist for his wedding, so he’ll have to consider if they will offer good suggestions.
I thought it was interesting that you talked about how the size and density of flowers will affect the statement it makes. My mom is looking to buy some special occasions flowers and wants to hire a professional florist to help her out. I think I will talk to her about considering what kind of statement she wants to make each time.

Yes, Gloria! An event designer will take the venue and all the decor into account when designing. Some florists offer event design services too.
