Well, it was a destination wedding for us. The bride and groom (my sister and her new husband) are DC residents. When your mother and sister are event florists, you use your resources. So, off to DC we went with our cars loaded with vases, trays, linens, and other treasures.
I both regret and don’t regret that I didn’t take a lot of pictures the day of the wedding. I wanted to experience it instead of being behind the camera. Also, as the matron of honor, I had other things to take care of. Luckily, we should have beautiful professional photos, too. Although this photo is dark, I promise the bouquets were beautiful arrangements of burgundy dahlias, scabiosa, ruscus, and pittosporum.
The wedding and reception were at Rockwood Manor in Potomac, Maryland.
The mantle and shelves were the show stopper of the event filled with greenery, flowers, and fall accents. The mantle and flowers would not have been possible without the help of my cousin Courtney and our friend Keith. Working away from your usual setting on top of being in the wedding can create a stressful situation but they helped us get through it with ease.
The tables were covered in royal blue linens and lined with our small gold and white chevron runners.
Each table held a tray with a large vase of ruscus and Bells of Ireland, a small vase of dianthus balls or hypericum berries, a bud vase with dahlias and scabiosa, as well as pumpkins and a table number.
Although we don’t plan on making destination weddings a regular business practice, we were happy to be a part of this wedding!
