The New Rustic

The rustic look continues to be popular in southern Indiana but we have definitely seen the style evolve in the past few years.  We are seeing less of a country look.  Less mason jars and primitive accessories.  Less cowboy boots and straw bales.  Instead, the trending look is an elegant rustic.  There is still a lot of wood, but we are seeing slightly sleeker finishes instead of pallets and barn wood.  Flowers continue to have a wild garden style, but with more classic flowers mixed in with those that look plucked from the field. This wedding, held in late May, is an example of that style.

Pew decorations

These are some of my favorite pew cones to date.  The bride asked for shades of orange and peach and we created the decor with tulips, gerber daisies, mini carnations, hypericum berries, monte daisies, and a mix of green and blue-green foliage.

Ceremony decorations

Two alcoves flanking the altar were brightened with arrangements containing tulips, lilies, mini carnations, thistle, stock, foliage, and curly willow branches.  The arrangements were later moved to the reception.

We usually only create fresh floral arrangements, but the wedding party wanted to keep their bouquets as a reminder of the day.  These bouquets were created with silk flowers.

Bouquets for Mothers

More and more mothers are choosing to carry bouquets instead of wearing a corsage.  We definitely favor this trend.

The reception was held at the Crescent Room on Evansville’s east side.  This space is a great option for those looking for a large venue.

Table vignette created with a small flower arrangement and candles on a wood tray

Our wood trays are a popular rental.  They tie together a vignette like the one above.  Without the tray, the items may seem like they are haphazardly floating on the table.

Garden style arrangement with candles and some of our vintage rentals

We have a large variety of accessories such as the green textured ball and vintage tin seen in this photo.  We also rent many sizes of quality, LED candles and holders.

This photo is another example of tying things together with a tray.  This is also a great option for a couple who wants flowers on each table but does not have a budget for large centerpieces throughout the event.

Cigar box arrangement with candles and some of our vintage rentals

Our cigar boxes remain one of our most popular centerpiece containers.  They bring in the popular wood element but with a more refined look than the country style that we have seen in the past.

Tall arrangements add drama to a space

Tall arrangements are always a good idea, especially in a tall space.  They are like a punctuation mark for the design.  It brings contrast because the decor is set on a different visual plane and they do not block the view of those sitting at the table.

Lush, head table floral display

This lush display tied together all of the colors and flowers from the event.  Since the head table was elevated on a stage, the flowers were visible to everyone during dinner and also throughout the night.  The dance floor was in front of this display.

What are your thoughts on the new rustic?
